HAPPY NEW YEAR! Cheers to Milestone Birthdays and 2024!!

2024 marks a significant milestone in my life as I celebrated my 50th birthday this past Saturday in Fredericksburg Wine Country with the most amazing group of friends and family, an occasion that was truly epic. Embracing my “little girl” (literally! as they made faces on a stick with my first grade picture on them. ;/) and celebrating the woman I have become. This new phase feels both crazy and awesome, reminiscent of the days when I envisioned myself forever 16, driving around a boring little town in Texas with my girl posse, cheering at football games, and pondering the person I would become. From those carefree days, I transitioned through college shenanigans and pursued acting and modeling in Los Angeles, taking leaps off proverbial cliffs and picking myself up countless times.

My 30s unfolded with the beginning of a beautiful love story, mixed with the heart-wrenching losses of numerous pregnancies. Yet, by the grace of God and modern medicine, I welcomed my first son and glorious twins—a miraculous realization. In my 40s, I ventured into the corporate side of entertainment and received the unexpected blessing of our now 6-year-old daughter.

As I step into my 50s, my prayer is to find comfort in being authentically me—an artist, a philosophy enthusiast, someone who values genuine connections over superficial friendships. I am a wife and a mother, and I believe the woman I’ve become is the best version of myself.

Reflecting on my journey, I’ve encountered significant life moments, from joyous to challenging, shaping the person I am. Despite considering myself a ‘black sheep’ within my family, I now sense a deeper connection with them—a unique blend of my parents, infused with a touch of magic.

Art is my medium for expressing my deepest emotions and values, a journey through the abyss of my psyche, spiritual enlightenment, and a profound appreciation for the human condition. While not everyone may see the esoteric side of me, the past five years have been an unfolding of just that, through my artwork and personal growth.

Recently, someone likened my work to that of Hilma af Klint. Unfamiliar with her until now, I’m both delighted and intrigued. I was surprised to receive a text that she would be “proud of my artwork.” The notion that Hilma would be ‘proud of me’ is humbling, considering her visionary and incredible artistic legacy. I aspire for my future work to reflect my ongoing journey, rooted in deep meditation and spiritual visions. If that journey connects me to Hilma’s following, I welcome it with open arms.

Committing to creating even more meaningful projects in my 50s, I look forward to sharing new designs on my Etsy and Shopify stores as well. I extend sincere thanks to all of you for your love, support, and for allowing me to be seen. As we embark on this new year, may each of you find joy in new beginnings, and know that I love and support your individual journeys as well.

Much love and light,

Erica 🙂
