Every year, I rack my brain trying to come up with a unique gift for my Mom’s Mother’s Day present. How do you possibly nail a gift for the one that raised you? The homemade cards and poems of my past just won’t cut it I’m afraid. I’ve decided that this year, I won’t stress and neither should you. I know it can be a bit daunting, but I may be able to help.
For the past few years, I’ve created a special gift using my artwork. Clothing, a tote, or a purse always go over well, but this year I feel inspired to bake up some new candle, Society6 and Redbubble designs that she and YOU will be able to enjoy for more than just a day.
If we’re making new designs for all of you Super Moms, then we can’t forget about the Super Stepmom’s and Magnificent Mothers-in-Law out there who also deserve to be celebrated. And what about all of the brand NEW Mom’s who will celebrate for the first time? I have a few incredibly special women in my life who adopted their fantastic crews and they were both meant to be Mother’s, so I am saluting you as well!
I remember my first Mother’s Day like it was yesterday. I was shopping at Old Navy for baby swimsuits when my husband surprised me and said he was taking me to the new resort that had just opened near our home at the time (God bless him!). I was so excited but of course, I was still nursing, puffy, hormonally imbalanced, exhausted and none of my clothes fit. No matter what I looked like, I FELT like the luckiest girl in the world. I even got to take a nap AND a shower! Not all Mother’s Day are perfect though. Last year, our car was totaled when we got hit by a random stranger just outside the restaurant we were trying to have MD Brunch at. We were all ok, but I missed out on those mimosas and buffet that I could almost taste. Regardless, we still celebrated and this year, I think we brunch closer to home and maybe I can get one of these new candles and a WL Mug. 😉
I can say with 100% certainty – that I get it. Motherhood, in all of its glory, is incredibly challenging and beyond rewarding and everything in between ..and I wouldn’t have it any other way. After being a Mom for 13 yrs and 3 more chicks added to the coup since that first one, Mother’s Day is now a brief moment for me to reflect on all of the ups and downs, belly laughs, tears, vacations, road trips, sleepy mornings, endless laundry, taxi driving and COVID homeschooling that almost took me down. They are still four amazing human beings and I thank God for them everyday.
With the new Mother’s Day additions to www.WingLightDesignsCandleShop.com, I hope you too will be reminded of the tornado of joys that surround being a Mom or having a Mom. Celebrate each other with pride and know that you are all truly cherished!! Being a Mother is a gift. And no matter how you became one, you’ve got my vote. Be sure to drink a mimosa, cheers to you!
